Our story

In 1998, after serving the Lord for eleven years in various positions in the church, the Lord called Laura into the ministry. Feeling that the Lord was calling her to become a Pastor, Laura and her husband went on a retreat seeking the Lord for confirmation. Confirmation is what they got - clear and specific. After returning from this retreat Laura determined not to allow being a woman; a wife and mother of three with no college education stop her from following hard after this call.

In 2000 Laura enrolled part-time at Cambria County Community College for her general classes. She then transferred to Oral Roberts University (correspondence school) where she graduated in May 2006 Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Church Ministries. In January 2007 she received her Ordination from the Assemblies of God International Fellowship.

Throughout this time Pastor Laura also lead a home bible study. In May 1998 Laura was approached by several women to lead a home bible study because they felt they were not getting what they really needed in their churches. Not only were they hungry for the Word, they were hungry for real, deep fellowship. From this group the Lord has surrounded Pastor Laura with people who had also caught the vision of a new contemporary church in Hastings. Only two of the original members (Debbie Chila and Debbie Berish) of the Bible Study are with Pastor and Cross Cut Church.

Although "Cross Cut Church" is new to the area, it is not new to Pastor Laura. She had carried this vision in her since receiving her calling into ministry. Pastor Laura had always had a passion to see a contemporary church effectively minister to the needs in her hometown of Hastings.
