The Grateful Heart

I Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Why we dont have a Grateful Heart.

1. Sin of comparison:

2 Cor 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

When we compare ourselves with someone who is not going through difficulty we are not wise.
We are hurting our self and setting our self up for an ungrateful spirit.

2. Expectation

We live in a society with a hand stretched out.

* All we really deserve is HELL forever.
* That by the grace of God we have been saved
* And everything else on top of that is an extra blessing.

The foundation of gratitude is the expectation of Nothing.

When we come to that place of realizing that every day is a blessing of God and not expecting that everything be perfect, than we begin to cultivate a Grateful Heart.

3. Discontented Spirit

1 Tim 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

We live in a materialistic society that says
* if I had just this one thing,
* if I could have just this one more relationship
* than I would be so very happy.

4. We get so Busy

We are by nature pushing onto the next event on the calendar, that next goal we want to accomplish.

Sometimes God just did something awesome in our lives but we are so pressed to move on that we dont even take time to meditate on how good God has been .

Think-fulness is Thankfulness
No matter how challenging the circumstances of your life are, if you take time to think, You will take time to Thank.

The secret of a happy life is not to get what you want but to live with what you have.

* Most of us spend our lives concentrating on what we dont have instead of thanking God for what we do have.
* Then we wake up, our life is over, and we missed the beauty of the present.

May we all move from this moment with an awareness that everything we have is because of your mercy. And may we walk in the blessings that come from a Grateful Heart.

The secret of a happy life is not to get what you want but to live with what you have got.

* Most of us spend our lives concentrating on what we dont have instead of thanking God for what we do have.

* Then we wake up, our life is over, and we missed the beauty of the present.
