Cross Cut Church will be the area's first "Purpose Driven" church. The Purpose Driven Church model comes from the Pastor of Saddleback Church (California) and author of "The Purpose Driven Life," Rick Warren who says that in order for a church to be healthy it must become a purpose-driven church. A Purpose Driven church is built around the five New Testament purposes given to the church by Jesus; Worship, Ministry, Evangelism, Fellowship, and Discipleship. The Purpose-Driven Church shifts the focus away from church building programs to emphasizing a people-building process. Warren says, "If you will concentrate on building people, God will build the church." Another principle of a P-D church is that they are launched rather than planted. Launching a church builds excitement and anticipation in the community.
